YEREVAN. - 12-meter withered poplar fell on one of the garages in the yard of house N 11 in Yerevan’s Abovyan street today. There were no people or cars in the territory then; only the garage roof has been damaged.
“A car always stands by this tree. If it fell at night, nothing would remain of the car,” the house residents told Armenian News – NEWS.am correspondent. Workers of the landscape gardening department of the Central administrative region sawed the tree and took it away.
The residents told Armenian News – NEWS.am that the trees in the yard were pruned down this year, but the withered poplar wasn’t chopped down.
Poplars live for up to 50 years. Due to the shallow roots, they may fall after withering. As far as the residents can remember, the poplar was over 50. Now they are concerned over another withered poplar in the same yard.
