The acknowledgement of the Armenian Genocide by Paraguay’s Senate will expand the acknowledgement process and help save the historical memory, Paraguayan Senator Desiree Masi, who introduced the draft resiltion on Armenian Genocide in Paraguay’s Congress, told Agencia Prensa.

“We faced pressure, especially in connection with the word “Genocide,” she said. Nevertheless, the resolution was passed unanimously.

“There must be some kind of reparations. We are interested in that too. Not only in acknowledgement, which is very important, but also in the subsequent possibility of some compensation,” the Senator said.

The Senate of Paraguay unanimously passed a resolution on acknowledging the Armenian Genocide on October 29.
