YEREVAN. - The agreement on establishing a single Air Defense System with Armenia is another example of the development of Russian-Armenian relations in all the spheres, not only in those of economy, humanity, culture and military and technical cooperation, Chairman of Russia's Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko said today at a briefing in the Armenian government.
According to her, this is a planned agreement, which was prepared during a prolonged period of time. In her words, the agreement still has to enter the parliament for ratification. “We are strategic partners and together we will ensure the security of our states,” she said.
The Russian government has recently approved the agreement on creating an Air Defense collective security system with Armenia in the Caucasus region. The document has been directed to President Vladimir Putin for signing.
