The committee set up upon the order of the Armenian President in connection with the crash of the Armenian passenger bus travelling from Moscow to Yerevan, has left for Russia’s Tula Oblast (province). The committee will coordinate with Russian partners on the ground the process of transporting the bodies of the killed passengers to Armenia and providing necessary support to the citizens and their families, Armenia’s Ministry of Healthcare representatives told Armenian News – NEWS.am.  

Those injured in the accident are at the moment receiving treatment in Russia’s Uzlovaya, Kireevsky and Novomoskovsk medical centers. 10 of them are in an intensive care unit: their condition is critical.

In the framework of the visit, Armenia’s Minister of Healthcare Armen Muradyan will visit the aforementioned hospitals to see the injured.

In the phone call with Armen Muradyan, Russia’s Healthcare Minister Veronika Skvortsova said that the treatment and health control of the persons injured as a result of the crash of the passenger bus travelling from Moscow to Yerevan, is directly in the centre of her attention. Armenian specialists are also in constant touch with Russian colleagues.

The passenger bus, which was traveling from Moscow to Yerevan, had the accident on Tuesday at around 2:10am, in the Uzlovsky District in Tula Oblast (province), Russia.

There were 59 passengers on the bus, but no children were among them.

At present, there are reports on eight casualties and 47 injured, and the latter were taken to the nearby hospitals.

A technical malfunction in the vehicle is considered a probable cause of this tragedy. But there is also a possibility that the bus driver might have fallen asleep behind the steering wheel.

Driver Garnik Harutyunyan was arrested in connection with the incident.
