YEREVAN. - Over a half-century activity of Haigazian University is the pride of each Armenian, President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan said at the meeting with the President of Lebanon-based Haigazian University Paul Haidostian today.  

Sargsyan congratulated the 60th anniversary of the university, calling it an important educational center in the Diaspora. He also highly appreciated Paul Haidostian’s personal contribution to the development of university’s connections with different educational institutions in the Diaspora, which help link the Armenian communities worldwide.

Sargsyan noted with satisfaction that the recent years saw activation of cooperation between the Haigazian University and the Yerevan State University, as well as other educational and scientific institutions of Armenia. According to the President, this potential should be fully used.

The interlocutors underscored the importance of educational exchange programs and reciprocal visits, which will help Diaspora students specialize in Armenian Studies, Genocide history and Arabic Studies, at the same time giving opportunity to the Armenian students to get familiar with the Diaspora and acquire professional skills.

Paul Haidostian thanked the President for the warm reception and considerate treatment to the University, as well as his consistent policy of enhancing ties between Armenia and the Diaspora.
