YEREVAN. – It is proposed that the amount of funding for the staff of the Office of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia be kept the same in the coming year.

The Armenian Ombudsman’s chief of staff, Tigran Areyan, noted the aforesaid at Thursday’s National Assembly debates on the 2016 State Budget draft.

Nonetheless, a small increase is proposed in this funding, to pay the salaries and the cost for the electricity price increase.

In 2016, the Office of the Human Rights Defender plans to provide legal assistance to 5,000 people, including the acceptance of 700 written and 1,450 verbal complaints.
