YEREVAN. – The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has heard from the media about the capture of an Armenian citizen by Azerbaijan.

The communications officer of the ICRC Yerevan Office, Zara Amatuni, told Armenian News-NEWS.am that the ICRC is following the respective developments.

“None of the sides has yet received an official communiqué,”  Amatuni noted.

She added, however, that the ICRC stands ready to be a neutral intermediary within the framework of its mandate.

The Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan informed earlier that Armenia’s Tavush Province resident, Lusine Abovyan (born in 1942), was detained on Sunday.
