YEREVAN. – The Shirak and Lori Provinces’ villagers, who were affected by the 1988 earthquake, will receive homes in 2017.
The Minister of Urban Development of Armenia, Narek Sargsyan, on Monday told the above-said to reporters in the National Assembly.
Sargsyan noted that close to 450 families in Gyumri—which is the country’s second largest city—are in queue for housing. He said, however, that the government has decided, instead of building new houses for them, to issue them certificates to buy a house, or an apartment, in the secondary market.
“We already have decided the matter of 233 families,” the minister added. “[But] receiving of the others is suspended for the near future.”
