YEREVAN. - Judges’ salaries have increased but this hasn’t resulted in less corruption, Head of the “Prosperous Armenia” Faction Naira Zohrabyan said in the parliament today at the debate on the draft law on “Settlement of persons holding state offices.”

The draft law proposes to raise the salaries of a number of officers at the prosecutor’s office to maintain the correlation between the Prosecutor General’s Office and Cassation Court.

In due time, when salaries gradually increased in Armenia, the Government justified this by the necessity to reduce corruption. Nevertheless, according to Zohrabyan, currently people complain of the justice crisis no less, if not more.

“At least 1 AMD salary growth of high-level officers will increase the already high level of dissatisfaction among the society. People are just annoyed. You are thereby provoking a new dissatisfaction,” she said.
