YEREVAN. - Armenia’s PM Hovik Abrahamyan today received the French Ambassador to Armenia Jean-Francois Charpentier, President of the Armenian-French Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIFA) Stepan Barakyan and the heads of a number of financial companies operating in Armenia.  

Abrahamyan highly appreciated the cooperation between Armenia and France in political, economic and humanitarian areas, noting that it’s based on solid ground. The PM also attached importance to the further development and expansion of the economic ties between the two countries, saying they have great potential. In this context, the PM considered it important to activate the CCIFA activity, adding that the Armenian government is ready to support the implementation of projects aimed at making closer the business ties and investments between the two countries.  

Ambassador Charpentier attached importance to the further development of the Armenian-French relations, noting that he is in constant touch with Armenia-based French companies. According to him, relevant measures are also taken to engage new French companies in the Armenian market.  Specifically, Mr Charpentier said a number of French companies are interested in implementing investment projects in the sphere of Armenian infrastructures, urban development and healthcare. To implement them, negotiations and discussions are being carried out. The Ambassador said that currently work is carried out to organize an Armenian-French business conference in the beginning of next year, which will give new impetus to the deepening and expansion of the economic ties.

PM Abrahamyan thanked the Ambassador for his active cooperation and expressed conviction that the bilateral close cooperation will yield its results.

During the meeting, issues on the process of implementing agreements reached by the governments of both countries, the operation of Armenia-based French companies, as well as other issues on further projects were discussed.
