External examination found no traces of violence on Lusik Abovyan, 76, who had crossed the Armenia-Azerbaijan border on November 8 and was returned to the homeland on Thursday.
Head of the Health Department of the Tavush Province of Armenia, Narek Vanesyan, told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.
He informed that the elderly woman underwent a medical checkup at the Ijevan city medical center.
“Lusik Abovyan told the doctors that she had a high [blood] pressure yesterday [i.e. Wednesday] in Azerbaijan, but she now feels well, since she is in the homeland,” Vanesyan said adding, however, that Abovyan has a heart problem.
In his words, the elderly woman said she had crossed the Azerbaijani border due to fog and gotten lost, as a result.
As reported earlier, the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan had informed that Armenian citizen Lusik Abovyan (born in 1939), a resident of the Tavush Province, was captured on November 8.
But the elderly woman was returned to Armenia on Thursday, and under the auspices of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
