YEREVAN. – Thursday’s statement by President Bako Sahakyan of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR), and according to which the airport of NKR capital city Stepanakert can be used by Russia to carry out antiterrorist operations in Syria, is a positive but a risky step.

Political scientist Aleksandr Manasyan said the aforementioned at a press conference on Saturday. In his words, as a result, the NKR could get involved in the war with Islamists.

Manasyan also reflected on the terrorist attacks in Paris, and noted that terrorism has become global.

“Of course we [i.e. Armenia and the NKR] are not the main target of the Islamic State, but we are at a dangerous crossroads,” the analyst added. “Terrorists of the Islamic State have been put in numerous European countries as refugees. Now, it’s hard to say how the same Europe, which has become a hostage of false ideals, will fight against them.”

Simultaneous terrorist attacks occurred Friday evening in six different parts of the French capital city.

The attacks claimed over 150 lives and injured numerous people.
