Soldier Vahe Vanoyan, 20, who was killed by Azerbaijan, was interred with a military funeral Monday in Arevik village in the Shirak Province of Armenia. 

Arevik mayor Garegin Stepanyan told Armenian News-NEWS.аm that military servicemen, fellow villagers, and representatives of the provincial hall attended the interment.

Vanoyan was laid to rest in his family grave, beside his grandfather.

The Minister of Defense of Armenia, Seyran Ohanyan, on Sunday visited the village, attended Vahe’s wake, and handed to his family the posthumous award he was bestowed upon.

Privates Vahe Vanoyan (born in 1995) and Mikayel Torosyan (born in 1996) had sustained fatal gunshot wounds from the shots fired by Azerbaijan, on November 12 at around 9pm.

They were fatally wounded at the military base of the protection area of a Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR, or Artsakh) Defense Army unit, which is stationed in a southerly direction.

An investigation is underway to find out the details of this incident.

And NKR President Bako Sahakyan had signed decrees, whereby these fallen soldiers were posthumously awarded with the Medal for Military Service, and in recognition of their bravery shown during the defense of Artsakh’s state borders.
