YEREVAN. - Two members of the “Red Card” civic initiative, who were taken to the police station today for throwing flyers through the Presidential residence gate grilles, have been set free.
“They justified that they took us to the police station for throwing the flyers to the other side of the gates. They kept us for about three hours, but didn’t draw out a record,” Varazdat Barseghyan, one of the detained activists, said.
Earlier, two members of the initiative struggling against the electricity, gas, sugar, flour and petrol price hike, were taken to the police station for throwing flyers in the form of red cards to the other side of the Presidential residence gate grilles.
According to the police press-service representatives, the boys were taken to the police station, being suspected of throwing suspicious objects, which later turned out to be flyers.
The initiative will hold a march on November 23.
