Equal treatment for businesses from any country is a must to attract foreign investment, Mr Richard Mills, the US Ambassador to Armenia, told the media Tuesday before the session of the US-Armenia Economic taskforce in Yerevan.

To facilitate doing business in Armenia is exactly the mandate of the taskforce. Nobody can instruct businesses to invest. What policymakers can truly do is to lay out an attractive environment for potential investors, which must work for a US, Russian, French or any other investor, he stressed.

The agenda of the meeting will include exchange of opinions on the proposed treaty against double taxation.

“The US government has asked for some explanation and information as to why this treaty is needed right now,” he told.
