The area round Eiffel Tower has been cordoned off by the law enforcement officers because of the information on a suspicious package, representative of Paris police prefecture said.

“Information was received on a suspicious package. Currently the information is being checked,” he said, RIA Novosti reports.

According to some media outlets shooting was heard in that area, Gazeta.ru reports.

Eiffel Tower was earlier reported to have been closed for solving issues related to security insurance.
