YEREVAN. – President Serzh Sargsyan on Wednesday met with Iraqi Ambassador Gazi Tahir Khaled, who is completing his diplomatic mission in Armenia.

The President thanked the ambassador for his efforts—during his tenure as the Iraqi ambassador to Armenia—to develop and strengthen Armenian-Iraqi relations, and wished him success in his future endeavors.

Sargsyan stated that a considerable progress has been made, in recent years, in relations between the two countries.

He also expressed a wish that peace and stability would soon be established in Iraq.

The Armenian President and the Iraqi ambassador highly praised bilateral cooperation also within international organizations.

Ambassador Khaled, for his part, noted that it was a great honor for him to serve in Armenia, and assured that he will remain a friend of Armenia.
