YEREVAN. - In an interview with Armenian News – NEWS.am, Armenia’s Minister of Nature Protection Aramayis Grigoryan referred to the alert of the environmentalists, according to whom the level of Lake Sevan has dropped during this season in the absence of  the issue of irrigation.  The Minister also pointed to the factor of wind.

“In different periods we have water losses which are caused by the wind. This is not excluded today,” Grigoryan said.

“The weather is becoming colder, and when “minus” is recorded, Sevan will get frozen. But currently we have 11 cm height in contrast to the same period last year, which I consider [a] positive [result],” the Minister said.

He said that the restoration of Arpa-Sevan tunnel might also account for the drop of the water level.
