YEREVAN. - The Czech Republic is ready to do its best to contribute to the development of mutual ties between Armenia and EU. Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, Jan Hamáček, said the aforementioned today at the meeting with the Armenian PM Hovik Abrahamyan.

The interlocutors noted the importance of the development of economic ties and implementation of their potential, Armenian government press-service reports. The significance of holding business-forums was also mentioned.

The sides also discussed the participation of the two countries in integration processes, as well as issues of regional cooperation.

The PM noted that being a member of EEU, Armenia continues its active cooperation with the EU and implements joint programs with it.  

For his part, Jan Hamáček said that the membership of any country to an integration union is its own choice which deserves respect. According to him, individual approach should be applied to each state in the context of deepening ties with the EU.

Abrahamyan noted the importance of balanced stance of the Czech Republic on Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, which is line with the stance of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs, as well as the general stance of the EU. Jan Hamáček stressed that as a member of the Czech Republic –Azerbaijan Parliamentary Friendship Group, he constantly underscores the importance of the peaceful settlement of the conflict. 

The Armenian PM highly appreciated the participation of the Czech Republic Senate and House of Deputies in the events commemorating the Armenian Genocide Centennial and thanked the Czech Republic Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Chamber of Deputies for adopting a resolution on the Armenian Genocide.

The PM thanked the authorities of the Czech Republic and the leader of the Catholic Church Archbishop of Prague, Cardinal Dominik Duka for the support in providing the medieval Church of Holy Spirit to the Armenian Gregorian Church community.
