YEREVAN. – The Culture and Creativity Programme formally kicked off Friday in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan, and within the framework of the European Union (EU)-Eastern Partnership Programme.
At the event, head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Piotr Świtalski, stated that at present, culture in Armenia develops primarily by way of the Russian language, and this is not bad.
He added that culture should be free of political agenda, this is an open climate for cultural development, but this is not easy.
The EU diplomat also noted that Armenians are a valuable part of European heritage, and they have a high culture.
Świtalski said each and every person who visits Armenia notes that Armenians love literature, theater, and music.
Culture and Creativity Programme will be implemented for three years, and its budget will be 4.2 million euros.
The objective of this initiative is to contribute to policy development and to enhance the potential in these domains.
