YEREVAN. – Social investments of the World Bank (WB) have touched the lives of 1.5 million Armenians in about two decades.

Laura Bailey, the Resident Representative of the World Bank in Armenia, told the aforementioned Tuesday in capital city Yerevan, at the forum to celebrate the 20 years of activity of the Fund of Social Investments (today known as the Fund of Territorial Development). The Fund, mainly financed by the World Bank, is responsible for programs of territorial development in Armenia.

About 900 projects of the WB, far and wide across the country, have helped redress territorial imbalances between the capital and the regions, Bailey said.

The World Bank is very firmly committed to support the Government of Armenia and the local authorities in their bottom-up projects, which will increase opportunity for Armenian citizens residing outside Yerevan, she added.
