YEREVAN. - There is no need in the urges of U.S. and EU since the Armenian authorities and relevant bodies have given an operative response to the publications on alleged election violations, the Deputy Speaker of Armenian Parliament Hermine Naghdalyan told Armenian News – NEWS.am after the session of the Supreme Body of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA).
“During this referendum, the relevant authorities have responded to all the information related to election violations very consistently and operatively. I mean the information related to both the work of the journalists and violations of the voting right, namely voting instead of someone or multiple voting. As to the urges of the EU and U.S. Department of State, they are in line with our actions. Thus, we think there is no need for such calls, since operative work has been carried out,” she added, responding to the question on how they assess the calls of the U.S. Department of State and EU Delegation to be consistent with respect to all the election violations.
Naghdalyan assured that the authorities will do their best to reduce the problems and violations during the next elections.
In the early hours of Sunday, President of Armenia’s Central Electoral Commission (CEC) Tigran Mukuchyan announced that a total of 825,851 (63.35%) voters said “yes,” whereas 421,600 (32.35%) others voted “no” in the referendum.
