YEREVAN. – The recent tension on the Karabakh frontline and the Armenia-Azerbaijan border is linked to Azerbaijan’s internal and the regional matters.

The secretary of Armenia’s “Heritage” National Assembly Faction, Tevan Poghosyan, stated the aforementioned at a press conference on Friday.

“Azerbaijan has major economic problems while [Azerbaijan President Ilham] Aliyev and the defense minister have a task of keeping promises,” Poghosyan said.

In the MP’s words, the expected talk between the Armenian and Azerbaijani presidents, Azerbaijan’s wish to support Turkey, and the elections can be a cause of this tension.

“The situation on the border will be tense until the New Year,” Tevan Poghosyan added. “The same will continue also on the [New Year] holidays.”
