The best measure for genocide prevention is its condemnation.

National Assembly (NA) of Armenia Vice President Eduard Sharmazanov, who is in Argentina for a working visit, on Thursday stated the abovementioned during his tête-à-tête with President Horacio Manuel Cartes Jara of Paraguay.

The private conversation between them was held in the Argentine capital city of Buenos Aires, and prior to the inauguration of President-elect Mauricio Macri of Argentina.

Deputy chairman of the Armenian Parliament expressed satisfaction that the Chamber of Senators of Paraguay recently voted unanimously to recognize the Armenian Genocide.

“With this step, Paraguay has reaffirmed that it is a country of democracy and human rights, [and] which condemns genocides,” Sharmazanov added.

In the Armenian NA vice-speaker’s words, the entire civilized international community must condemn the crimes of the past.

The Paraguayan president, in turn, expressed his support for the Armenian people on the centenary of the Armenian Genocide.
