At least 21 people died during the assaults on three military bases in Bujumbura, the capital city of Burundi. 

The country’s army said 12 gunmen were killed and another 21 captured following these attacks.

Presidential media advisor Willy Nyamitwe informed that the opposition members launched these attacks to divert the military’s attention and release prisoners, RIA Novosti news agency of Russia reported citing Agence France-Presse (AFP) news agency.
