There is no alternative to the exercise of the right to self-determination of the people of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh Republic; NKR). Artsakh has never been and will never be part of Azerbaijan; this is the free expression of will of the people of Artsakh.

National Assembly of Armenia Vice President Eduard Sharmazanov, who is on a working visit to Argentina, noted the aforementioned in his address during Friday’s talk at the seat—in capital city Buenos Aires—of the Armenian Diocese in Argentina of the Armenian Apostolic Church.

“The Armenian people’s victory in the heroic battle of Artsakh became possible as a result of the consolidation of the united forces of our nation,” Sharmazanov specifically said in his remarks. “Even today, the adversary [i.e. Azerbaijan] continues to violate the ceasefire regimen and reject the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs’ efforts aimed at a peaceful settlement of the conflict.

“Sadly, we [i.e. the Armenian side] had irretrievable [human] losses in the last days. (…) These events testify to the fact that Azerbaijan does not rebuff the idea of resolving the Artsakh conflict by military means.

“[But] we support an exclusively peaceful settlement of the Artsakh conflict. (…) We shall support the exercise of the right to self-determination of the people of Artsakh.”
