YEREVAN. – The Bright Armenia Party (BAP) is opposition, and it does not agree with the domestic and foreign policy of the current authorities of the country.

Newly elected BAP Board Chairman, MP Edmon Marukyan, told the aforesaid to reporters, following Saturday’s founding congress of this new political force in Armenia.

“It is a rule of classical politics that the party is opposition,” Marukyan said. “We have stated with our videos that we are an opposition political union.”

He noted that it has been spoken repeatedly about the BAP’s funds, and they have spoken about this in their special videos.

“They are people you don’t know,” the MP added. “There is no such a name [that you know], oligarch, or a representative of the authorities who supports us.”

To the journalists’ remark that an opposition party has been formed in the country and the Armenian authorities were speaking about the need for such a party, Edmon Marukyan responded: “We hear the words of the authorities, but we have nothing to do with them.”
