YEREVAN. – In essence, there is a concealed war on the borders, and the only way to stop it is our military force and defensibility.
Head of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Dashnaktsutyun Party National Assembly (NA) Faction, Armen Rustamyan, on Monday stated the abovementioned to reporters at the NA.
He noted this reflecting on the recent escalation of tension along the Line of Contact between the troops of Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan.
“I hope this tension shall sober up Azerbaijan with the logic that they will have [military servicemen] losses one to ten [against them],” Rustamyan said. “And it’s still meaningless today to speak about a serious negotiating process.”
He also did not rule out the possibility that, in the context of currently strained Russian-Turkish relations, it is Turkey that provokes asymmetrical actions, thereby diverting the international community’s attention from its own problem.
As per the ARF MP, this tension is also linked to the fact that anti-Armenian resolutions are adopted by the international community.
“Resolutions adopted by the Council of Europe cause escalation [of tension] on the borders because they [i.e. these resolutions] make Azerbaijan more unbridled,” he added.
Armen Rustamyan stressed that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict can be resolved solely by nonuse of force, and avoidance of war.
