YEREVAN. – The Armenian officials themselves shall pay compensation for the moral damage they have caused to citizens.

Deputy Minister of Justice Arman Tatoyan on Tuesday noted the above-said at the National Assembly, as he introduced the draft amendments to the Civil Code.

Tatoyan said pursuant to these amendments, if the court finds a public servant guilty of causing moral damage, this person’s establishment can judicially leave the payment of respective compensation upon this individual.

“This provision is already functioning abroad,” the deputy minister added.

And the method of payment in cases of interpersonal disputes will be specified by the new Civil Code, which is being developed.
