YEREVAN. – The Government of Armenia on Thursday approved the loan program between “Armenia” International Airports CJSC and the London branch of Credit Suisse, which is a Switzerland-based multinational financial services holding company.

According to this program, “Armenia” International Airports CJSC has received a $135 million loan, whose $52 million will be used to pay off previous loans, and investments will be made with the remaining amount.

Head of the General Department of Civil Aviation (GDCA) of Armenia, Artem Movsisyan, told reporters that “Armenia” International Airports CJSC stands ready to discuss the matter of reducing the tariffs of the airport’s services.

But, in Movsisyan’s view, there is no need to review these prices.

“Who says that tariffs are high?” he noted. “Calculations were made at the airport, [and] which were made public. But no one wants to recall them. Everyone prefers to talk about the high tariffs.”

The GDCA chief also urged not to draw parallels with the airport of the Georgian capital city of Tbilisi, and to point to its cheaper tariffs and plane tickets.

“The aviation fuel in Armenia has never been and will never be cheaper than Georgia,” Artem Movsisyan stated. “It’s imported via the Black Sea, and [therefore] more money is needed to bring it to Armenia.”
