The trial of Russian soldier Valery Permyakov, who is charged with the brutal murder of seven members of the Avetisyan family in Gyumri, Armenia, will get underway Friday, at the 102nd Russian Military Base in the city.

Even though the court hearing will be open, the seats are limited.

The trial will be broadcast live, and tents with large screens will be installed nearby the military base

In addition, there will be bailiffs and Armenian police officers in the courtroom and at the entrance of the Russian military base.

Armenian News-NEWS.am has learned that Permyakov’s conduct was not bizarre all through the investigation into this murder. He had behaved as if nothing had happened and that everything is OK. 

We also have found out that he received no mental-problem-associated treatment during this time, as it is disseminated in the media, and that he is kept at the said Russian military base, where he served. 

Six members of the Avetisyan family—including a two-year-old girl—were shot dead, and a six-month-old baby—Seryozha Avetisyan—was wounded in their house in Gyumri on January 12; but the baby boy died in hospital one week later.

 

Valery Permyakov, a serviceman of the 102nd Russian Military Base in the city, is charged with these murders.

 

Armenia and Russia instituted criminal cases on charges of murder and military desertion, respectively.

 

On August 12, the Russian court sentenced Permyakov to ten years in prison.

And on October 16, Armenia formally brought criminal charges against the Russian soldier.
