YEREVAN. - The continuation of talks on Karabakh conflict is very important, but on the other hand, one shouldn’t expect from the talks at tomorrow’s meeting of the presidents to create serious basis for progress. Alexander Makarov, Director at the Armenian branch of the Institute of CIS countries, said the aforementioned today at the first session of the Armenian News – NEWS.am agency expert panel.
According to him, the growth of tension is noticeable, but this doesn’t result in any changes beneficial for the Azerbaijani side. “The Armenian side is once again coming up with a constructive stance, being ready to discuss all the proposals on the peaceful settlement of the conflict. Realism dictates that Azerbaijan will be urged to decrease the tension created by it,” Makarov said. Overall, it can be said that the tension on the Line of Contact has grown over the last 18 months, he added.
Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan will meet in Bern, Switzerland tomorrow.
