The agenda of the meeting between the Armenian and Azerbaijani presidents held in Bern was dictated by an escalation of the situation, Azerbaijan’s provocations and flagrant violations of the ceasefire. Armenian FM Edward Nalbandian told the aforementioned to journalists today, Panorama.am reports.
“Azerbaijan cannot give up illusions that force or threat of force can be used as a tool during talks. They are actually trying to compensate their weakness at the talks thanks to such steps. The Azerbaijani strategists think this empowers them,” Nalbandian said.
In his words, this kind of policy has never and will not ever give Baku anything positive, any advantages.
Commenting on the view there is no point in continuing the talks amid Azerbaijan’s provocations, Nalbandian said: “The question is: What is the alternative to negotiations? Of course, Armenia is in favor of continuing the talks and finding a resolution to the problem through negotiations. The participation of our president in the summit shows this, speaks of our approach, which consists in the fact that Armenia is committed to continuing joint efforts with the OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs towards a peaceful resolution of the conflict”.
