There are disagreements in all—including politico-military—organizations, Russian political analyst Mikhail Aleksandrov told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

In his words, there are differences of opinion also within the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), in which Armenia also is a member.

As per Aleksandrov, an example of such a falling-out within the CSTO was the member states’ position in connection with Turkey’s downing of a Russian warplane in November 2015.

The analyst noted that an active CSTO support was not displayed to Russia on this matter. Furthermore, when Russia began to impose economic sanctions on Turkey, CSTO members Kazakhstan and Belarus started to complain as to why Russia had begun these sanctions without consulting with them.

“So, there are disagreements, albeit I can’t say whether they would be manifested in a crisis situation during the Russia-NATO hypothetical war,” Mikhail Aleksandrov added. “But I don’t observe dramatism in these disagreements. This is an ordinary situation, including for politico-military alliances.”
