YEREVAN. - The ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) has started considering the country’s Electoral Code form conceptual point of view. Armenia’s Parliament Speaker Galust Sahakyan told the aforementioned to Radio Liberty.

In his words, there is an intention to use relevant tools. “There exist different reliable models in the world. Nobody wants to resort to violations during the elections. Of course, these violations are attributed to the majority, since we don’t allow ourselves to speak about what [ANC parliamentary faction leader] Levon Zurabyan did during the elections,” Sahakyan said.

New edition of the law will be drawn out in near future, following which the parliamentary factions and extra parliamentary political forces will hold hearings and discuss issues.  

The referendum on constitutional amendments was held in Armenia on December 6. According to the official data - which a number of opposition forces didn’t agree with -  63 percent of voters supported the bill. Under the new Constitution, the country will shift to a parliamentary form of governance.
