National Assembly (NA) of Armenia Vice President Eduard Sharmazanov, who also heads the NA Armenia-Czech Republic parliamentary friendship group and is on a working visit to the Czech capital city of Prague, on Monday met with the spiritual leader of the Czech Catholic Church and the Archbishop of Prague, Cardinal Dominik Duka.
The NA deputy speaker lauded the Archbishop of Prague’s personal contribution to the strengthening of relations between the two Christian nations. Also, Sharmazanov expressed gratitude to Cardinal Duka for participating in the Armenian Genocide Centennial exhibition that was held in 2015 in Prague.
The spiritual leader of the Czech Catholic Church, for his part, noted that he was impressed during his visit to Armenia in the year past. He also underscored the need to deepen relations with Armenia, the world’s first country to adopt Christianity as a state religion.
At the ensuing talk, the interlocutors expressed their concern over the extermination of Christians and the cultural genocide in our days. In addition, Cardinal Dominik Duka condemned the destruction of Armenian Christian monuments.
