Travel.ru tourist service has determined the Russian tourists’ most popular destinations in the countries of CIS and former Soviet Union in 2016.  

The rating is made on the basis of data on hotel bookings by Russians for residence from February 1 to December 31, 2016.  

“Last year the number of trips to CIS countries by individual tourists grew by 20 percent, while Yerevan was included in top-3 CIS cities most popular with Russian tourists,” Communication Director at Travel.ru, Yakov Sadchikov, said.   

This year the Russians book trips to Yerevan for five days on average and are ready to pay over 2.5 rubles per day for accommodation.

According to the data of Travel.ru, the Russian tourists’ top-10 popular cities of CIS and former Soviet Union in 2016 included Minsk, Tbilisi, Yerevan, Baku, Kiev, Almaty, Tashkent, Kishinev, Astana and Vitebsk.  

The top-10 popular cities of CIS and former Soviet Union in 2016 are Belarus, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Moldova, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. Trips to Tbilisi, Batumi and Borjomi in Georgia, and Tashkent, Bukhara and Samarkand in Uzbekistan are among the most frequently booked ones.
