YEREVAN. - President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan today received Georgian Minister of Defense Tinatin Khidasheli, who is in Armenia on an official visit.

The interlocutors discussed issues regarding development and enhancement of bilateral interstate relations, Armenian-Georgian cooperation in the sphere of defense, as well as those concerning regional security.

Both Sargsyan and Khidasheli attached importance to the high-level reciprocal visits, which, according to them, give a new impetus to the interstate relations, ascertain the prospect of further cooperation, as well contribute to the finding of practical and fast solutions to the current issues on the agenda.

The President underscored the importance of traditional Armenian-Georgian cooperation, and balanced stances in terms of maintaining regional stability and peace.

For her part, Ms Khidasheli noted that Georgia greatly appreciates the millennium-old good neighborly relations between the Armenian and Georgian peoples, stressing that nothing can separate friendly people with such an old history from the path which they started millennia ago and which they will continue for long years.

At the meeting, the Defense Ministers of Armenian and Georgia presented to the President the agreements reached as a result of the interagency discussions on the Armenian-Georgian military cooperation in the framework of Tinatin Khidasheli’s visit.
