Russian State Duma member Yevgeny Fyodorov has proposed to bring criminal charges against those who receive money from foreign sources for conducting political activities Russia.

The respective bill will be debated at the spring session of the lower house of the Federal Assembly of the country.

“The US embassy [in Moscow] staff visits to the [Russian] provinces have become more frequent,” Fyodorov stated. “It’s clear that they are distributing money.”

Under the current Russian law, it is prohibited to fund from abroad of the electoral campaigns of the political parties in Russia.
