YEREVAN. - President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan today met with the Georgian Ambassador to Armenia Tengiz Sharmanashvili, who is completing his diplomatic mission in the country.

The President thanked the Ambassador for the active and fruitful work during the past five years.

Highly appreciating the Ambassador’s role in strengthening Armenia’s ties with friendly Georgia, Serzh Sargsyan expressed hope that after assuming another post he will maintain ties with Armenia and Armenian friends which he came to know during his mission in the country.

The President attached great importance to the relations with Georgia, stressing that it’s necessary to not only maintain them, but also develop each year, which, according to Sargsyan, is the duty of the two friendly stated.

For his part, Ambassador Tengiz Sharmanashvili thanked the Armenian President for the warm words and assessment of his work.

“Honorable President, I remember extending my credits to you years ago, when you said I was at home, and any door I knocked would open before me. This was the case during these years. [During my mission] I have seen only understanding and warmth, which I am very grateful for,” the Ambassador said.
