YEREVAN. - President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan today received High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, and the delegation led by her.  

During the meeting, the sides discussed the agenda of Armenia-EU relations, as well as pressing international issues and regional processes, Armenian President's press-service representatives told Armenian News – NEWS.am.

Stressing the importance of deepening the ties between Armenia and EU, the Armenian President noted that the country is deeply interested in this. 

Sargsyan and Ms Mogherini agreed that the Eastern Partnership summit held in Riga in May 2015 served as an important ground for Armenia-EU relations. The parties continue to cooperate on this basis.

Serzh Sargsyan expressed satisfaction with the launch of talks on a new comprehensive legal document between Armenia and EU in Brussels by the end of 2015. The president expressed hope that the talks will be held in a regular way, and the sides will successfully bring the process to its conclusion in near future.   

He also referred to the large-scale reforms in Armenia, including the constitutional ones adopted in December 2015. The President stressed that Armenia is ready to continue the reforms and highly appreciates the EU support in this connection.

At the meeting, the sides also discussed the process of talks over Karabakh in the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group. The Armenian President presented the position of the Armenian side, which has been mentioned for many times.

Mogherini cofirmed EU's stance, stressing that the EU supports the mediatory mission of the OSCE Minsk Group and the three principles underlying the talks: peoples' right to self-determination, non-use of force or threat to use force, and territorial integrity.
