YEREVAN. – Immediately upon arrival in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan, the delegation, led by Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of Russia, Sergei Naryshkin, who is also Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO PA) Council, on Friday visited the Armenian Genocide Memorial on Tsitsernakaberd Hill.
They laid a wreath and placed flowers to the Armenian Genocide Monument, and paid tribute to the 1.5 million innocent victims of this tragedy.
“Every time I visit Armenia I definitely go to the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial,” Naryshkin stated. “We need to remember what took place one hundred years ago, so that such tragedies are not repeated. Each year, the Russian Federation State Duma remembers and adopts a respective declaration, whereby the [Russian] parliament expresses its condolences and position on the tragic events that occurred in 1915.”
The Russian delegation is visiting Armenia to attend the meeting of the CSTO PA Council.
