YEREVAN. – Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian on Monday received Ambassador Günter Bechler, Special Representative for the South Caucasus of the German Chairmanship at the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that Nalbandian presented the German diplomat the present-day situation as a result of the large-scale hostilities which Azerbaijan unleashed in early April, and its continuing ceasefire violations.

Ambassador Bechler, for his part, noted that the OSCE German Chairmanship is deeply concerned by the exacerbation of the situation along the Line of Contact between Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan, and expressed condolences for the casualties resulting from the said military actions.

Next, they exchanged views on the prospects for the continuation of the Karabakh negotiation process within the format of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs. Nalbandian presented Armenia’s position on the avenues for the resolution of the Karabakh conflict.

The interlocutors stressed the importance of unconditional support to the Minsk Group co-chairing countries’ (Russia, US, and France) efforts toward achieving a solely pacific resolution to this conflict.

“The Azerbaijani side does not stop speculating about the negotiation process,” the Armenian FM said. “In the meantime, the co-chair countries’ proposals are known and clearly defined (…). Armenia has repeatedly stated that it stands ready to continue talks based on them.”
