Ruben Melikyan, the new Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR/Artsakh) Human Rights Defender (Ombudsman), will continue the work started by his predecessor, Yuri Hayrapetyan, to inform the international community about the aggression which Azerbaijan unleashed against Artsakh in early April.

Melikyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am that the work will continue toward preparing interim reports, and that a final report—based on these reports—will be made later.

“I announced about this also in my speech at the NKR National Assembly,” the Ombudsman said adding that the term “interim” suggests a series of reports.

Earlier, then NKR Human Rights Defender Yuri Hayrapetyan had prepared the interim public report on the “Atrocities committed by Azerbaijani military forces against the civilian population of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic and servicemen of the Nagorno Karabakh Defence Army on 2-5 April 2016.” A report was published in the latest issue of the official periodical of Euro Ombudsman.
