First time in the history of Taiwan there took place an inauguration of a female president. The ceremony took place at the Presidential Palace in Taipei. The leader of the opposition Democratic Progressive Party, Tsai Ing-wen, won the elections held on January 16.
On May 20 she will officially assume her duties for a four-year term. She replaces Ma Intszyuin from the ruling party Gominda, who promoted an rapprochement policy with China for 8 years, reports TASS.
