Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Christine Lagarde said that there are reserves for development for regional integration in the Central Asian region.
It is possible to make much on the way of regional integration and development of trade. What they see now in the region is limited, and the countries can help each other, support each other, she announced during a press conference on the results of the regional conference of the IMF held in Astana on May 24.
The head of the IMF noted that all the countries in the region are tied to each other. She also added that they are different, some of them have serious dependence on foreign remittances, some of them strongly depend on the prices of raw commodities, but all these countries depend on each other.
The event was organized by the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the International Monetary Fund. Representatives of the International Monetary Fund, Eurasian Development Bank took part in the conference. The heads of the Ministries of Finance of the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAES), Central Asia and South Caucasus met at the round table.

Participants of the conference discussed the current economic conditions in the region and the policy responses to overcome short-term shocks, the promotion of sustainable, diversified, inclusive growth in the medium term, as well as possible ways for IMF's assistance to the region.
