Mexico is interested in cooperation with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) to expand its presence in the region, Carlos Alberto de Icaza González , Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, told RIA Novosti news agency of Russia.

“We need to discuss the possible rapprochement between the Pacific Alliance [(Mexico, Peru, Chile, and Colombia)] and the EAEU,”  said de Icaza González, who on Wednesday begins his official visit to Russia.

The diplomat noted that Mexico plans to develop such a discourse, but he did not specify a date for the possible signing of a memorandum of cooperation.

The Eurasian Economic Union comprises Armenia, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.
