Polish Defense Minister Antoni Macierewicz stated that one battalion of NATO in Poland will be enough to deter a potential Russian invasion, Defense News reported.

Macierewicz noted that the main task of the battalion is not to stop offensive actions but to deter it. In his opinion, the battalion will cope with this in case of "Russian aggression", which will allow the alliance to gain time and organize a counterattack.

The Defence Minister also emphasized that the exact number of the military troops and their locations are still under discussion. At the same time, as the edition noted, the number of battalions in the US Army usually makes from 300 to 800 people, Gazeta reported.
