Bundestag member Sevim Dağdelen described adoption of the Armenian Genocide resolution as a “victory of historic justice”.

Unfortunately, Turkey’s policy is based on genocide denial, she said after the vote. The MP said she is happy that the vote took place, Armenian News-NEWS.am learnt from her press office.

“It is important to call historic events what they were – a genocide,” Ms. Dağdelen added.

The MP emphasized that not Western, but also Turkish historians call the events a genocide, although the Turkish experts are under constant pressure over the issue. Thus, Bundestag’s move will strengthen civil society and will pave the way for reconciliation.
