YEREVAN. – France is ready for the European football championship in the best way, Charge d'Affaires at the French embassy Nicholas Fai said in Yerevan.
During the Monday press conference, he reminded that France for the third time in the history will accept the European Football Championship which starts on June 10 and will last till July 10. This is major sporting event after Olympic Games and the FIFA World Cup. It is also an important opportunity for fans to meet. About one and a half million people will arrive to France for this purpose, he explained.
The events which will unite about seven dozen boys and girls studying French and German will be held on 8 and 9 June for the purpose of promotion of social collaboration and integration through sport activities. The events are organized by French and German embassies in Armenia.
Coaches, teachers, representatives of the French and German organizations will take part. Events will be held under the auspices of the Football Federation, the Yerevan Municipality and the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
In turn, the Ambassador of Germany to Armenia, Matthias Kiesler, said Germany and France show special attitude to the forthcoming championship, as Germany is the reigning champion, while France will host the championship. The Ambassador expressed regret over the fact that the Armenian team will not participate in the tournament.
According to him, the upcoming events seek greater involvement of Armenian women in football.
Asked about security measures during the tournament in France, Nicholas Fai noted that the maximum measures are taken. The entire country will be mobilized, this refers to gendarmerie police, firefighters, ambulance. The special organization will provide security directly at the stadiums. The authorities of the cities will provide safety of territories for fans.
